Stroke and Distance
A double entendre-filled blues number. The phrase “Stroke and Distance” came to me as I woke up on a day in December that was warm and sun-filled enough to facilitate a round of golf. It doesn't take my “monkey mind” very long to come up with things to say about balls, putters, birdies and playing a round. It basically wrote itself in a day or two and the following week, I settled upon the chord progressions for the verses and the bridge. Total germination time for the piece was 10 days at the most. Light, quick and very tongue-in-cheek.
