Opus
We're beyond pleased to welcome back Matt Goddard to Death Proof Recordings. This 2 tracker 'Opus', sees him complete his hat-trick of releases on the label (Boxed, Thaus) and as we've come to learn the techno doesn't let up!
The title track is groove-laden from the get go: a jagged drumline accompanies a warm emphatic bass line into a rampant build of ethereal and glacial synths, whilst off-tilt but well timed FX and subtle vocals glitch between the tight groove, a real peak time effort.
Where as Matt's 'Dub Mix' brings a much more direct and darker approach, more accustomed to a sweaty warehouse or inky basement, throbbing bass presides alongside reverbed kicks and sharp snares and cymbals, well worked automation lets this gargantuan effort build and build to drop into industrial grinding mid range saw-synths whilst the grotesque distorted FX reverberate around the track.
